Excursions
Each programme offers a wide range of exciting excursions. Travel, entry tickets (and accommodation and some food for overnight trips) is included. Examples below:
Semester and quarter programmes might include:
- Boat trip to the Tower of London
- Various theatre trips, including
- The National Theatre
- Shakespeare’s Globe
- The Royal Shakespeare Company
- The Barbican Theatre (last year students saw Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet)
- An opera at the English National Opera
- At least one West End show (last year students saw Nicole Kidman in Photograph 51)
- Behind the scenes tours of the National Theatre
- A visit to a national news organisation (previous visits include the BBC and Al Jazeera)
- Lecture at the London School of Economics
- Prime Minister’s Question Time in the House of Commons; and Mayor of London’s Question Time at City Hall
- Walking tours (Dickensian London, Mrs Dalloway, East End, Square Mile)
- A variety of museums and galleries, including:
- Three-day trip to Edinburgh or Cardiff, including a tour of their parliament building, guest speakers, various museums and galleries
- Day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, including a performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre (Shakespeare students only)
- Day trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (spring semester; history students only)
- Day trips to Bath & Stonehenge/Oxford/Brighton/Great Missenden
Summer Journalism programmes might include:
- Classical music concert at the BBC Proms
- Ballet at the English National Ballet
- Behind the scenes tours of Chelsea FC, the BBC, the National Theatre
- Day trip to Wimbledon tennis championships
- Q&A session at the Guardian newspaper
- Wembley Stadium PR office
- Lord’s Cricket Ground media centre
- Visit to Reuters news agency
