Things To Do In London

  • Londonist – things to see and do in London that are a bit different
  • Secret London – interesting articles about lesser-known, almost-secret parts of the city
  • Open House Weekend – an opportunity to visit buildings that aren’t usually open to the public. Various sites open over a weekend in mid-September
  • Art Fund – this website is a good source of arty things all in one place! They also sell an annual ‘Art Pass’ which gets you 50% off most paid exhibitions.
  • London Theatre Direct – there are lots of London theatre ticket websites. Some are better than others! This is a good one. You can also go in person to kiosks dotted around London.

  • Transport for London (TfL) – London’s official transport website, with info on tubes, trains, boats, buses and trams
  • Citymapper – this is a really excellent, user-friendly website for planning your journey around London (also an app)
  • National Rail – plan your UK-wide train travel here
  • TrainLine – similar to National Rail
  • Euro Star – train travel from central London via the Channel Tunnel to Paris and beyond
  • National Express – cheap UK coach travel
  • Megabus – cheap UK coach and train travel
  • easyJet – cheap, no-frills short-haul flights around Europe
  • 16-25 Railcard – gets you 1/3 off normal rail fares either in person or via rail websites
