Uri Agnon

Teaches: Theatre, Audience and Society

Dr Uri Agnon is a Jerusalemite composer, theatre-maker, researcher and activist currently living in London. Uri’s research and practice look at politically engaged art, exploring the tools that can be used in music and theatre to affect change. Uri’s work has been performed on stages around the world and his pieces include the recent Antisemitism: a (((musical))), the opera Word Problems and the installation piece ‘Absentee’ means-. He also regularly writes pieces to be performed in protests and direct actions. As an artist and activist his work is focused on the struggle for Palestinian rights in Jerusalem, the fight against the climate crisis, and on combating antisemitism and other forms of racism. He greatly enjoys teaching and has taught at both highschool and university levels. Uri has a PhD from the University of Southampton, and degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (summa cum laude) and The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (magna cum laude).
